Ingredients:

  • - 1 lb paneer, cubed
  • - 1 tbsp ginger-garlic paste
  • - 1 tsp turmeric powder
  • - 1 tsp red chili powder
  • - 1 tsp garam masala
  • - 1/2 tsp cumin powder
  • - 1/4 tsp coriander powder
  • - Salt to taste
  • - 2 tbsp oil
  • - 1 large onion, finely chopped
  • - 1 (28 oz) can crushed tomatoes
  • - 1 cup heavy cream
  • - 1/4 cup chopped cilantro
  • - 1/4 cup water

Instructions:

  1. 1. Marinate the paneer: In a bowl, combine the cubed paneer with ginger-garlic paste, turmeric powder, red chili powder, garam masala, cumin powder, coriander powder, and salt. Mix well, ensuring the paneer is evenly coated. Let it marinate for at least 30 minutes, or preferably for 2 hours in the refrigerator.
  2. 2. Sauté the onions: Heat oil in a large pan or skillet over medium heat. Add the chopped onions and sauté until they turn golden brown, about 5-7 minutes. Stir frequently to prevent burning.
  3. 3. Add spices: Add the marinated paneer to the pan with the sautéed onions. Cook for 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the paneer is lightly browned on all sides.
  4. 4. Incorporate tomatoes: Add the crushed tomatoes to the pan. Stir well and bring to a simmer. Reduce heat to low, cover, and let it simmer for 10-12 minutes, allowing the sauce to thicken slightly. Stir occasionally to prevent sticking.
  5. 5. Add cream: Stir in the heavy cream and 1/4 cup of water. Simmer for another 5 minutes, allowing the sauce to become creamy and smooth.
  6. 6. Adjust seasoning: Taste and adjust the seasoning as needed. You may want to add more salt, chili powder, or garam masala to your preference.
  7. 7. Garnish and serve: Remove from heat and stir in the chopped cilantro. Serve hot with naan bread, roti, or rice.
  8. 8. Optional: For a richer flavor, you can add a pinch of sugar to balance the spices and a squeeze of lemon juice at the end.
